At 42, I thought my life was basically over. I had very high cholesterol, constant back pain, and could hardly move. I was around 220 lbs. Sometime in 2005, I decided to take action to improve my quality of life, so I changed my eating habits, no more fast food and very limited sugar, and started exercising.
I started with a Water Walking class at the gym. I think the 80-year-olds got around better than I did. But after about 8 months, I was able to get around better, found out about a spinning class, and started doing that. The first month or so, all I could do was light pedaling. Boy, what a workout. That is when things really started taking off.
By December 2008, I was down to 150 lbs. I started running outside, cycling, doing 700 miles in 3 months, and taking regular classes like spinning, bootcamp, body works, and zumba. I learned what my body does best with: a clean diet of berries, walnuts, yogurt, homemade lentil stew, salmon, and chicken. When I needed to put on some muscle, I started making my "chunky monkey" protein drinks.
Today, I want to share the exact daily regimen and the uplifting music that keeps me going, so you can achieve your own personal best.
